Alternative therapies adopt a gentle, holistic approach aimed at enhancing a sense of wellbeing and a state of relaxation and, if a phobic person is able to feel generally more relaxed and less anxious, it has a positive effect on his self-esteem and overall health and so he is better equipped to deal with his phobia. Hence, although they may not provide a cure, these therapeutic methods are highly suitable on their own or as additional techniques in a treatment programme.
