One of the main problems is the overwhelming evidence for the part played by cognitive factors in phobia which is not allowed for within the preparedness concept.
 Non-associative theory has similarities to the preparedness model outlined above, but is more restricted in that it is aimed at accounting for specific phobias and developmental fears that arise in childhood.
