Fear of Friday the 13th.
It is suggested that most of the stimuli that elicit specific phobias are ones that represented danger to early human beings, particularly to young children if they wandered away from their parents. Heightened anxiety, physiological arousal and awareness of danger increased the likelihood of survival and so innate fear responses in the presence of such prepotent stimuli were adaptive and became incorporated into the make-up of human beings.
